Between Wonder and Reality
To mark his 80th birthday, the Cinémathèque is presenting a ten-film retrospective across November and December. From Jaws and E.T. to A.I., Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List, this selection explores the many facets of a filmmaker who helped redefine popular cinema, making wonder, spectacle and fear the driving forces of a cinema that has never ceased to question reality.
The public has an appetite for anything about imagination – anything that is as far away from reality as is creatively possible.
