50e anniversaire du Círculo Antonio Machado

The Miradas/Blécker Short Film Competition, organised by the Círculo Cultural Antonio Machado, is now in its 19th edition. The competition helps promote short films made in Spain, with a particular focus on works that offer social commentary or critique. In doing so, it creates a bridge between Spanish culture and the different communities that make up Luxembourg.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Círculo Antonio Machado (1976–2026), a selection of around ten short films drawn from the competition’s 19 editions has been curated, bringing together works that made a lasting impression on us. Some won the competition but received only limited exposure due to various circumstances, including the pandemic. Others did not win an award, but we felt they deserved greater recognition. Finally, some are beginning to fade from memory, and we wanted to bring them back into the spotlight and give audiences an opportunity to rediscover them.
