Central and Eastern European Film Festival

The 19th edition of CinEast brings a rich and diverse selection of Central and Eastern European films to Luxembourg audiences.

The programme boasts over 120 screenings of 65+ feature films and numerous short films, alongside concerts, debates, exhibitions and themed events. CinEast 2026 presents a Focus on Bulgaria, a special Ukrainian programme, Luxembourg co-productions, programmes for young audiences and special screenings. The festival’s thematic cycle “Crossroads” explores moments of choice and transformation through films, debates and a photo exhibition at Neimënster. Around 40 filmmakers, actors and producers will meet audiences during Q&As and ciné-debates. 

Screenings organised in collaboration with the Cinémathèque take place at Cercle Cité and the Théâtre des Capucins while the festival is also present at Ciné Utopia, Neimënster, Kinepolis Kirchberg and other venues.

A key partner since 2009, the Cinémathèque will host screenings of films in competition, short film programmes, Q&As and film heritage events, including tributes to Andrzej Wajda, Béla Tarr and Allan Starski (in his presence), as well as the international premiere of the ciné-concert for Wajda’s The Conductor.
